The World's Biggest Custom Revolver
|
The World's Biggest custom working revolver weighs a mere 99.2 lb has a length of 4ft 2in and stands approx 1ft 4in from the butt base to the top of the hammer. The revolver is so big that it is impossible to hold up to fire, even with both hands. Impracticality over-rides any form of usefulness and the revolver is more of showpiece than a practical firearm. |
| The revolver is a working, scaled-up copy of a Remington 1859.
It can be loaded and fired in exactly the same way as the original
except that the revolver needs to be supported on something substantial
like half a log before it can be fired.
The recoil that the revolver delivers can only be estimated to be quite awesome as no actual information of this has been recorded ? |
|
It was built by Ryszard Tobys (pictured above and below ) of Czempin, Poland. The Revolver was successfully test-fired on July 15, 2002 whilst resting the end of the muzzle on half a log. |

The revolver has a caliber of 1.1in (28mm) and is chambered for 6 rounds of ball ammunition, each bullet weighing 136 g (4.7 oz). The revolver is loaded by pouring in a charge of powder in to each of the six holes in the cylinders, then the ball shot is placed in each of the holes and rammed down with the lever under the barrel. Percussions caps are then placed on the nipples at the other end of the cylinder, the hammer is manually cocked and the trigger pulled to fire off a round. Credit where its due. Despite what has been said about this revolver on several other websites, this revolver is NOT a 'Pfeifer Zeliska' Mr. Zeliska the gent who ordered the .600 Nitro Express Magnum Revolver from Pfeifer Small Arms has had nothing to do with the production of this revolver and the company of Pfeifer small arms did not construct it...as far as I am aware. As far as my extensive research can deduce, it was a sole effort by Mr. Ryszard Tobys so therefore the Revolver is designated as a 'Tobys-Remington' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Rex Macbeth of Mankota County, Minnesota USA owns a replica of a Colt Peacemaker which is 'strung up' at the roadside. It is 8½ foot long and weighs 175Lbs.
The revolver was created sometime around the late 1940's, its made from steel and houses wooden grips. It is unlikely that this revolver actually fires though and can therefore only be considered as a big scale model. |
