Mr Peebles is the worlds smallest and possibly cutest cat, he is about 6 inches long, is just over 6 inches tall, weighs about 3lbs and he can sit inside a 200ml drinking glass.

The cat was discovered by Vetinarian Doctor Donna Sassman who became attached to him whilst she was on a trip doing house vaccines of local community peoples pets in Tazewell County, Illinois, USA.

She noticed a little bundle of fur amongst other cats in the house, and realized it was a very tiny cat.  The Doctor was concerned that the cat would not be able to get fed properly as the other cats would just shun it aside.

Dr. Sassman recalls "...He was very cute and I asked the owner...Can I have him? She said, Yes...if you can catch him... " 

When the cat was taken back to the Good Shepherd Vetinary clinic in Pekin, Illinois, the doctor assessed that the cat had actually got a genetic defect that made it so tiny. Dr. Sassman named the cat Mr. Peebles, after a ventriloquist's dummy on an episode of Seinfeld.

The cat is already an adult and is therefore nearly fully grown and will not grow much bigger.  Dr. Sassman states " I have to feed him at least four times a day to sustain his weight, I bring him to bed with me at night between my husband and I, and he curls up in my arms and sleeps next to my neck when it's cold. One of his best little habits is that he'll lick me on the chin at night to give me a kiss. " 

Guinness World Records officially presented the Smallest Living Domestic Cat World Record to Mr. Peebles, replacing the previous record holder...Itse Bits.
