This is a selection of 1:12 scale model race bikes as made by ' Minichamps.com ' the scale model company. The quality of these scale model motorcycles is at a very high and very detailed standard. Below is a rendition of Rossi after his year 2000 GP win at Donnington Park in the UK. Rossi, the 'Doctor' triumphs again on the Honda NSR500 'Nastro Azzurro' These model bikes have some weight to them as well as they are made of metal and the figures cast from a solid heavy duty resin. Even the visor of Rossi's helmet open and closes.
The front and rear suspension works on the minichamps Yamaha and Honda just like the real bikes, the front wheel steers and and handle bars turn. All the instrumentation is depicted as are the engine components when you remove the metal snap on side fairing. The bikes also come complete with the paddock stands that the rear wheel slots into, as these race bike's have no side stand.
Below ' thumbs up ' after Rossi wins on a Yamaha YZR M1, this model was made by IXO and although is great, its not quite as good as a 'minichamps' under close scrutiny. The figure however is a ' minichamps.com ' creation and all the detail of Rossi's race kit is accurately detailed to the finest degree, even Rossi's silver ring is depicted through his ear ! If I take my eyes of him I am sure he will ride the bike off and park it at the back of my monitor, the paddock stand helps prevent this !!
It has to be said that these transitions in die-cast metal and resin are a fabulous tribute the one and only Valentino Rossi. The models are scale replicas of the real things, they are not kiddies toys. They expensive to purchase at around £50 to £60 for the bike and £25 to £30 for the figure, however I managed to get some great deals on E-bay and bought the bike and rider for £53 The highly detailed minichamps.com Yamaha bike and Rossi figure below I secured for £36 brand new and in the box, so I was chuffed !
Minichamps make quite a few scale model bikes and they are a bit pricey, but if your a bike lover then you must get at least one of them. I am not a salesman for minichamps nor do I get any cash for saying these things or for presenting this web page. Just letting you know what's available for collecting if your keen on bikes.
Below: Are they really well detailed, these models ? You kiddin, the better quality shot below of Rossi's 2000 Honda GP500 could be mistaken for a photo of his real life bike, even the weld line on the frame is visible along with the welding crease's.
If you would like to grace your mantle-piece, fire-place, Computer case or space around your PC then I could not think of anything better than a fine replica of a Rossi Motorcycle and Rider.
