Here is a collection of some unbelievable pavement/sidewalk chalk/pastel paintings by artist Julian Beever.

Julian Beever is nicknamed the 'Pavement Picasso' and this is not without good reason !

He originally came from Melton, Mowbray in Leicestershire, UK and used to be a Punch and Judy showman, but when he realised his talent as a street artist in the mid 1990s he spent all his spare time making pavement/sidewalk masterpieces.

Read more about him and his works as you scroll down the page.

Julian Beever has been creating fantastic works of art on pavements/sidewalks with chalk and pastels since about 1995.  The majority of Julian's works use a very clever method of projection called ' anamorphisis ' which means that when a picture is looked at from the right direction  the art work ' jumps out ' at you in a 3D perspective.

It must be very difficult to create these pictures, as the artist would not be able to see the correct perspective whilst he was drawing them.  To work out the formulae  of distance over perspective to get it to look correct has to be just as clever as the drawings themselves.

These great works created by Julian Beever, are the result of a true pavement/sidewalk art genius.

Julian Beever has created these fantastic pavement/sidewalk drawings all over the world including the UK, Belgium, France, Holland, Deutschland, Austria, Denmark, Spain, Australia, Brazil, Argentina and the USA.

He is now actually lives in Belgium.

There's Gold in them there high streets !

Julian strikes gold !

The Batman & Robin drawing as they climb to save the guy from the burning building ( below - left ) is my all time favorite, its just so superb, a work of pure genius.  Also Julian Beever as he is about to dive into an aqueduct is quite superb.

As well as these fabulous pavement/sidewalk creations, Julian is also adept at painting murals and portraits with acrylic and oil paints. He can reproduce an old master to such a degree that's its hard to distinguish from the real thing.

The amazing amount of detail, color and vibrance in the portrait of Queen Elizabeth I in the picture below on the left is fantastically awesome to say the least.

What a shame that none of these pavement/sidewalk masterpieces survive the first or second rainfall, all that extreme hard work and effort simply ends up getting washed away.

The only only testimony to these great works then are now left with the images that we see in photographs, its a great shame really.

Julian Beever is a modern Picasso, Turner, Constable or Landseer

Here at Vince's Worthwhile Website I wish Julian Beever all the very best for many more great pavement drawings. Thank You Julian !
