The TEREX MT6300AC
|
This is one of the worlds largest trucks, Its a Terex Unit Rig MT6300AC. Terex announced this new truck at the April 2007 Bauma exhibition. At 600 tons GVW with a mammoth 363 tons payload this new truck certainly deserves the title as one of the Worlds Biggest. |

|
Terex is about to officially launch their new super large electric drive truck later in 2007, with the first models to be delivered to North American Construction Group (NACG), which is the leading oil-sands contract miner, to be operated at CNRL’s Horizon project in Alberta’s Athabasca Basin. The all powerful new AC drive allows a maximum speed of 64 km/h, powered by a MTU/DDC 20V 4000 (3,750 hp) or CumminsQSK78 (3,500 hp) engine. The new cab has room for two full-size reclining seats plus additional storage capacity. This new truck will be using tyres @ 59/80R63 on a 44 in by 63 in rim or a 56/80R63. Special thanks to Matt Haldeman for some proof reading of this page. |

The Caterpillar 797

|
The Caterpillar 797 and 797B series are one of the worlds biggest production mining trucks with a payload of 360 tons, but has recently been superceded by the awesome Liebherr T282 ( see further down the page) The engine in the Cat 797 is a 100% diesel powered Model 3524B, not like the rest of these big trucks that are diesel-electric similar to locomotives. The Cat 3524B diesel engine features electronic unit injection, an ADEM II electronic controller, and a 3500 series fuel system with after cooling and four single stage turbochargers.
The 3524B has plenty of power to move large loads and maintain good speed, even up grades. It can travel at 40MPH loaded. It produces 3224 hp at the flywheel. The fuel tank holds 1000 Gallons. Fitted with Caterpillar Oil cooled multiple disk brakes, it can stop pretty quickly too. The Cat 797 is fitted with an Automatic Gearbox with 7 forward and 1 reverse gears.

EUCLID

|
The Euclid R280 ( Now designated Hitachi EH4500 )series is the biggest that Euclid-Hitachi manufacture at the moment, it uses the AC Drive technology, which Euclid developed in conjunction with Seimens. The system provides superior performance with higher top speeds. The trucks that use this system can reach 64 Kph. |

Komatsu 930e
|
The Komatsu 930e HaulPak is a seriously large truck and as with all of these trucks it may seam like the images have been 'photo-shopped' to give a false impression of their size, this however is not the case. A standing person of average height will be eye level to the centre of the wheels hub. |

The image above shows the driver ( a nice lady) standing some distance behind the rear wheels. The Komatsu 930e HaulPak series is at present the companies biggest production truck, with a payload of 330 tons. |

Liebherr T282

Below: A Liebherr T282 picks up speed.

The new Liebherr T282 is awesome.

|
The Liebherr T282 series is the biggest truck that company build's, being able to haul 400 tons with 3500 brake horse power. The price for one of these T282's is $3,000,000 not including tyres ! |

If you could put British Chieftain tanks @ 56 tons apiece into the dumpers of these monsters then you would be able to put SIX of them in at the same time...and then carry them...easily !!! All of these trucks don't have wing mirrors to see what is behind when they reverse, instead they have got video cameras, usually two on either side and another on the rear axle. Including oil, fuel and coolant these trucks normally have about 5 ton of fluids onboard. These vehicles normally consume between 35 to 45 gallons of diesel per engine/hour. |
The Land of the Giants !!

From left to right : 360 ton Cat 797
330 ton Komatsu 930e, 240 ton 830e
185 ton Cat 789, 85 ton Cat 777...What ! only 85 tons...
and a 1 ton pickup barely visible at the far right.
